Brigitte Benoît
Head of department
As apprehending the corporation’s organizational and human issues and as revisiting community works in the light of its strategic dimensions are necessary, the Management & Strategy Department aims at providing intellectual and technical tools to students and professionals from the Executive Education which will be relevant to their future practice.
Courses are taught by multi-national core faculty members, external academic and professional instructors. These courses address current and future issues raised by the Corporate world in various fields: strategy, decision-making process, human resource management, entrepreneurship, social responsibility, international management, organizational behavior, leadership and sensitive issue processing: the internationalization of companies, relocation, location strategy, discrimination, social networks and their impact at work, just to name a few.
The education combines conceptual understanding, critical reading from the literature and application through case studies. This is particularly the case in the HR Major from the Master Grande Ecole managed by the department. This specialization allows all students from ECRICOME schools to be specialized in various jobs that are offered in this discipline. Furthermore, it is the place where you can think in groups about new arising issues in human resources thanks to the writing of a master research thesis.
The investment in research of all the department’s core faculty members is here to maintain an excellent level of teaching knowledge and to serve scientific communities. Research topics focus in particular on the management of innovation, corporate social responsibility, strategy making, and territorial competitiveness strategies, but as well on the career, the balance between professional/personal life or professional education.
So, its tr@jectoire Research Group is highly involved in the launch of a CentreCarrieR, and particularly in the conception of the program “Career Objective”, which purpose is to develop in all Rouen Business School’s students, their ability to find their way all along their career path.
The Research Group is the framework for monthly workshops bringing together multi-institutional researchers, in-house workshops and each year, the group works on organizing the colloquium New job, new jobs, new careers. Department’s faculty members are also collaborating with international teams (Canada, U.S., Asian area) in all their areas of research and bearing this in mind, they regularly invite visiting researchers.
Finally, the department works directly with the business world both for intellectual productions (in particular, regarding the writing of case studies) as for the organization of conferences or for the co-construction of customized programs for the Executive Education. Designed as a training-action, a MATMUT middle management training system is emerging and focuses on the passing on of managerial behaviors, identified as “best practices” by professionals themselves.
