In line with its vision, Rouen Business School aims to train students with a real sense of entrepreneurship.
In partnership with BNP Paribas and KPMG, the ‘Business Model and Entrepreneurial Innovation’ Chair will enable the school to support this aim and to develop knowledge specifically applied to the entrepreneurial approach.
The main objective of the Chair will be the ‘business model’. This tool, which is crucial in the entrepreneurial approach, transforms the innovation into a value proposition. Innovation, of course, is not limited to technological innovation, but includes commercial, marketing and/or organisational innovation. Innovation is, thus, the core of the business model problem.
The business model is still too often not totally worked out by project initiators, and its evaluation by financers still involves many hidden problems which have not yet been solved (evaluation methods, evaluation of intangible assets, etc.).
On top of this, in a number of fields, innovations (digital, energy, green economy, etc.) call into question the existing business models (gratuity, value chain, etc.) and lead to the emergence of new business models.
The Chair aims to create scientific knowledge applicable to the business model in the entrepreneurial approach. This knowledge should contribute to better support and guidance for the entrepreneurial projects developed in Rouen Business School and its ‘Starting Block’ business incubator.
The research carried out by the Chair will concern three major axes :
In the long term, the Chair’s vocation is to set up an Internet portal for gathering together data on business models. This will centralise information intended for project initiators and give them the possibility of testing a first version of their business model. The data collected will then be further exploited to provide fuel for the School’s research activities.
