Entrepreneurship refers to the set of practices involved in creating, discovering and acting on business opportunities.
It contributes to economic growth by stimulating innovation, productivity and job creation. The "Entrepreneurship and Innovation" Research Group welcomes researchers with a strong shared interest in entrepreneurship and innovation who work to further understanding of these concepts in a world of globalisation. The Research Group particularly focuses on business models, seed funding and the links between the institutional framework and entrepreneurial activity.
At Rouen Business School, entrepreneurship has always enjoyed a major role. Our teaching methods are designed to provide business development tools, and start-ups are encouraged. We have always striven to nurture student creativity. In fact, several companies have been founded by Rouen Business School students during their studies.
Rouen Business School's vision is to "explore new worlds and go forward as responsible leaders". Its commitment to this vision is evidenced by its major investments in entrepreneurship, as well as the bolstering of its research endeavours in this field. In addition to activities geared towards business development (i.e. the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center, specialised academic programmes, a business incubator, the Trophy for Entrepreneurship), research into entrepreneurship and innovation adds to Rouen Business School's "entrepreneurial capital". The Research Group will set up analysis tools that will not only develop academic expertise in the field, but also contribute to all the entrepreneurial and innovative projects developed at the school.
The Research Group will set up the following activities.
Research is conducted in five main areas at the Research Group, with cross-disciplinary ties as well.
• Entrepreneurial business models (e.g. new business models, sustainable entrepreneurship, growth of business models)
• Institutions and entrepreneurship (e.g. impact of institutions on entrepreneurship; institutional entrepreneurship)
• Venture capital and seed funding
• Innovation and competitive advantage in start-ups
• Entrepreneurship education
